Gesa in the Community —

High School Partnerships

Student-led credit unions.

Gesa’s High School Credit Union Program, active since 2000, offers high school students hands-on experience in running campus branches. These student-led branches allow peers to conduct basic transactions, integrating real-world financial skills into the school curriculum. Supported by teachers and Gesa’s Education Team, selected students serve as Campus Branch Managers, gaining leadership and industry experience.

Our program focuses on practical learning, with campus branches handling student accounts and basic transactions, minus lending functions. The Student Checking account, designed for young users, promotes financial responsibility without service charges or overdraft risks. This initiative not only teaches valuable financial skills but also sets students on the path to future financial success.

Financial support throughout college

Gesa proudly offers $100,000 annually in scholarships to support our members’ educational journeys. These scholarships are available in four categories: participants of the High School Credit Union Program, entering college freshmen, current college students, and those needing help with student loan repayments. Since 1987, we’ve awarded over $1 million to help our members succeed in their academic and professional pursuits.
